This Flying Batbot is a thing of beauty
As the Robot dogs and Robot Fish are pretty common, Industrial automation company Festo has taken the idea of animal robots to a different level.
Having previously designed robotic ants, butterflies, and Kangaroos, they now have introduced a robotic flying bat.
This flying batbot is officially named as Bionic Flying Fox.
It is engineered with the lightweight frame and has a custom membrane for the wings.
Thanks to its combination of the integrated onboard electronics with the smart external motion-tracking system, it moves semi-autonomously in a defined airspace.
This robotic bat belongs to order Chiroptera, the only mammals that can actively fly. It comes with the system of gears and motors, which gives it a power of flying power and steering.
Bionic Flying Fox’s wings are made of two airtight films and a knitted elastane fabric, stitched together than 40,000 points.
These wings are very lightweight and durable.
